Skin therapy gone wrong

I was referred to Dr Sirleshan Moodley, practice *** by a colleague who said her daughter had clear skin after she was treated by him. I consulted with Sirleshan in February, he asked if my preference was ointment which may not resolve the problem or a tablet to clear my skin from inside. He prescribed Roaccutane 40mg whilst he requested bloods from Lab. My process on this medication has been physically and emotionally painful and difficult. The only thing he told me at the time he handed the script was expect things to get worse before it gets better. At no point did he warn me of the effects, the cracked lips, bleeding nose, migrane, sore muscles, swollen eyes, itchy and flaky skin, the pruge of ****les, the difficulty in breathing. I quit gym, l quit my normal life. I can never go to the mall because of the ****les and red swelling and sun sensitivity. On my 2nd consultation my face was full of pus and still he retained the dosage the way it was. On the 3rd consult, l was livid and expressed how the effects were unbearable only at that point did he decide to lower the dose to 20mg. A follow - up consult was diarized in 4weeks again, and through out this process l am still paying the consultation fee of R650.00 and he was not willing to review the consultation fees even though this was continuous follow ups. Let me take you back, l met a client whose a dermatologist on my 2nd month consulting with Dr Sirleshan, and he asked what l was doing about my purge and every visible tragedy on my face. When l explained that l am consulting Sirleshan he asked where his based and other info of his and the conclusion from my chat with the Dermatologist is that his been in this field for over 40years and knows almost every Dermatologist and Skin The******. I really need to investigate this person cause his *****. Subconsciously, l thought maybe this Dermatologist just wants me as his client and bring Sirleshan down. So l ignored. My daughter could see how depressed the effects and medication were making me, l always thought suicidal thoughts don't exist, but l realized l spent most of my time weighing less painful options ways of killing myself, she researched and suggested a support group on Facebook for Roaccutane and most people were expressing how far they went before they quit this stage 5t medication in fear of death too. Fast forward, last week Friday Sirleshan consultation concluded that l need 5 more months on his medication which is R650 for the remaining consults, R950 every month for the medication, his sunscreen sold at his practice only for R550.00, face cream, R395, facewash R400. I took the prescription to Clicks who now have introduced a person that checks the HPCSA system to see if scripts are valid and so is the Doctor. The consultant returns and questions me where l got the script from, how long have l seen this Dr, asks if he should call him to confirm him and tells me Sirleshan is not registered and his license was suspended over a years ago and his registered as a GP and not skin aesthetics. I felt confused, felt like a ******** suspect with everyone around gazing at me, like l'm robbing the store. My husband saw my confusion when l went back to the car with the printed confirmation from clicks. He called Sirleshan and asked why he did not inform us upfront. He clearly knew his license was suspended but if he told us upfront our decision to continue with him will be informed decision. My husband then requested that he refunds us as his a *****. Refund the consultation and medication fees and everything else his prescribed. I hadn't commented to Sirleshan till this morning when l asked what he thinks would be the best solution for us since lm out of medication and cant use the script. He turned the tables as says he felt threatened by my husband and his only will to refund the last consultation and because he can see my face is reacting badly, he would rather refer me to another dermatologist and dropping me as a client. After his recommendation has messed up with my face, my memory, my confidence, my health his now sees it best to quit. If this incident hadnt happened with Clicks, which story would be told later, that l died because of negligence and a *****. I need to let you know, so that what happened to me doesnt relive another tragic story of Sirleshan Moodley. I only learnt his practice was closed in Musgrave and only runs another in Ballito.
