Dr RI Omar

Not Impressed. Don't Recommend.

Dr Omar was in the delivery room when my daughter was born, and did the check ups while in hospital, he was friendly, and seemed to know what he's doing - which is why I'm giving 1 extra star on this review. However we were then given an appointment with his rooms for our daughter's 2 weeks check up for 22/06/2026. The appointment was for 13h15, we arrived 15 minutes early as you should for any appointment. Our first red flag was a FULL waiting area, with sick children and no aircon, I'm not sure about you, but I'm not comfortable with a newborn sitting in the same room with several sick people/children with no moving air, to be honest, that's when we should've turned around and walked out, but we covered baby's face with a blanket and waited because we thought it'd go relatively quickly... In between patients, he has a fat chat with receptionist (up to 10 minutes a time), then he disappeared to go pray at 14h00 and the receptionists didn't bother to tell the people waiting, we only found out because I had asked what the delay was. We were still not seen to by 14h45. I had started googling other pediatricians in the area at around 14h15, and found one directly above Dr Omar's rooms, who saw us promptly... We walked out of Dr Omar's rooms at 14h45, he had just gotten back from his prayer, that was a 45min prayer, I'm a very religious man myself, and understand the importance of prayer, no matter religion. However if you have a full waiting room, maybe you should pray in the morning like many other people do? Or give your patients a warning in advance that you'll be stepping out for nearly an hour. If you communicate such things, people can restructure their day. Dr Omar needs to really get structure in his practice. He clearly overbooks his day, and makes his patients and parents wait for hours on end, why? Because he can, which is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Our booking was made 2 weeks ago and we were expected to wait for 2 or more hours? I took my wife and daughter during my lunch break from work, I then had to take off the whole afternoon and missed 2 very important meetings because of Dr Omar not having respect for the people who are waiting in his waiting room. Dr Omar also needs to keep in mind that if booking a newborn checkup, he should try to do it first thing in the morning before other parents bring their sick children into the rooms, especially if he has a tendency to keep everyone waiting on him, healthy or sick. I would've thought he would know better. After our experience with Dr Omar, I will recommend to anyone with a newborn or even just looking for a new paed, to stay FAR away from his practice. Please Dr Omar, for the sake of your existing clientele, do better. People deserve to be respected for their time, money and health.
