Worst experience of my life with a Dr
If you are here reading this, RUN!!!!
It’s taken me a year to finally write this review however I’ll forever remember the experience this dr put me through.
2 years ago whist searching for a dr for our first pregnancy I was here at these very reviews. I read the bad reviews but because of medical aid network restrictions- I ended up going for her anyway. My rationale was that because I’m aware of the type of person she is (as per the reviews: rude, dismissive and lacking people’s skills) I thought it wouldn’t bother me because I’m going in prepared and that the main objective for me going is to see if my baby is growing fine, not to make a friend. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!!😭
Consultations with her were as expected, very dismissive, sarcastic and borderline rude. Eg of the time when we would ask a question she would ask another one with a sarcastic tone, which would make one feel stupid for even asking. But again I thought it didn’t matter and I didn’t let any of that get to me because main objective was to see if our baby was good.
Fast forward to the day of birth—scheduled C-section— I’m laying on the operating table and right before the surgery, she pokes me on my stomach but says nothing, she does it a second time and I then say ouch. She then asks what is it to which I respond she’s poking me and I can feel it. She responds by asking why I didn’t say anything the first time she did it and I tell her that I didn’t know it was a test as she didn’t say anything but upon her proceeding with the poking I said something. After that she didn’t respond back and proceeded to speak to her colleagues.
My husband was in the theatre, he wasn’t even seated yet, there was still chatter in the room and the next thing I experience is this excruciating pain of being cut open. 😭😭😭😭.
I screamed and grabbed my husband’s arm squeezing it for dear life! As if it was not enough, she sliced into the second layer and that’s when I jerked my knees up and one of the nurses exclaimed that she shouldn’t be able to do that.
Long story short, the epidural failed, I let her know that I still had sensation in my legs but her true style dismissed it and probably thought I was being dramatic. Only on the second cut when I jerked my knees up did they believe me and then use the general anaesthesia that put me to sleep for the rest of the birth.
The reviews didn’t matter until they mattered 😭.
To top it all of, I never got any acknowledgment or apology from her, instead the following day she sent her receptionist to my ward room to collect the shortfall and their admiration fees which my medical aid supposedly doesn’t cover.
The next day when she came to check up on the wound, she couldn’t look me in the eye, didn’t acknowledge, ask about or even check on the baby. Was very cold and rude still.
Again I tell you, if you are here RUN!!!! These reviews matter! Your mental and physical wellbeing (and that of your baby) is much more important than paying a little extra for a dr who loves their job and takes it seriously.
