Underwhelming medical care
I am a private patient, and my regular General Practitioner visits are 30 minutes long(more or less), costing R450. Unfortunately she is on leave for the week and I had to visit a different doctor at the practice, Dr. Michelle Smit. I had to pay the same consultation fee which I expected, but I was not treated with an ounce of the same bed side manner or as completely as one would expect. I was rushed into the exam room and rushed out, and my request for an injection for my stomach ache and nausea was ignored. My prescription did not even have something for nausea prescribed. I could have saved the trouble and consultation fee and gotten over-the-counter medication. I deserve the same level of care as the patients before me and not the joke of a 10minute joke of a visit. What also interested me was that the reception ladies, after the speech by our Country's Leader, sat without masks. I also did not find it professional being loudly informed with a waiting room full of patients of and account settled weeks ago, was still outstanding. Maybe the diagnosis of the patient should also then be loudly announced? No matter how ill I am in future, if my GP is not there, I will save the consultation fee.
