****** Dentist

I booked an appointment for a dentist last week, appointment was confirmed and booking set for 04/02/2020 at 13:30PM. I arrived earlier than the time set for the appointment at 13:10PM. When I buzzed to be let in, the door was closed and I was not let in. As this was before my appointment time I had thought nothing of it. About 5 minutes or so later a White lady walks right passed me and stands at the buzzer of the doorway to the dentist. I assumed she worked there and asked if they were perhaps closed for lunch, she responded that she did not work there and soon there after she was let in. I still stood outside as technically my appointment time had not yet arrived. At about 13:20, a White gentleman walks past and stands at the doorway to the dentist, he pressed the buzzer and he was let in. Upon seeing this I was shocked as to I was not being let in so I went to the doorway again and pressed the buzzer. This time I was let in. The man who had just entered was rushed to, greeted and given a form to fill (the form with medical aid info etc.). I was not greeted nor handed a form in fact the dentist of the practice walks right towards me and tells me that they were on lunch. I asked if that’s the case why was the gentleman being assisted and as well as the lady who had walked in first. She then hands me a form to fill in and tells me that I will be helped at 13:30PM. She walks towards another lady who was also at the reception area and says “sy is nou in in, wat will ons doen? The lady responded by saying that “ons sal nie help hom” Apologies for the spelling error but basically she was telling the lady that I’m now in and what will they do. This is by the way the actual dentist saying this. They must’ve assumed I didn’t understand Afrikaans but I grew up in Rustenburg and went to an Afrikaans high school. She walked off and told me the receptionist will be back shortly. The whole time they are talking about me in Afrikaans making references to EFF, the gentleman also started laughing. I told her I understood what they’ve been saying, left the form on the table and walked out of the dentist practice. The receptionist saw me walking out as she was coming back from her lunch and asked if I’m there to see the dentist. I responded by saying yes, detailing what had happened and I told her that I was going to report their practice. She apologized and then went inside. A few minutes later the receptionist walks out, she asked if I could come back in and that they did not want this to reach social media. She insisted it was a misunderstanding and that the dentist wanted to talk to me. I refused, got into my Uber and went home. They basically denied me access, discriminated against me at a health care institution all because of my race.
