CLAIM REJECTED BY MEDICAL FUND

On 21 July 2015 my spouse went for a PE CT scan at the medical practice of Dr LF Weir at the Pretoria East Hospital.<br> <br> The cost of the procedure was more than R8500.<br> <br> Prior authority was obtained from my Medical Aid.<br> <br> My Medical Aid rejected the claim for the treatment, because an incorrect ICD 10 code was submitted. This means that I would have had to pay the amount out of my own pocket.<br> <br> We first objected to the Medical Aid, but could not get the matter sorted and we were informed to contact Dr Weir's account section.<br> <br> My spouse, Mrs ME Ferreira then called Karen at Dr Weir and asked her to help us rectify the matter.<br> <br> Karen was very helpful and sympathetic and went the extra mile to contact my Medical Aid to submit the correct ICD code.<br> <br> She then called us to explain what she had done.<br> <br> She also assured us that we should not be concerned, and that it will take a while for the Medical Aid account to be paid.<br> <br> We would like to commend Karen for her sympathetic ear and reassurance and the way in which she dealt with the matter.
