<div>My first appointment was with a junior doctor, who joined the practice at the beginning of January 2021, on 18 February 2021. I had no problems with my eyes but needed an eye test for the renewal of my driver’s licence. I decided to consult an Ophthalmologist instead of an optician because thus I will have my annual check-up at the same time. He did a dilated eye examination & said that there were no problem with both my eyes & I can go. As I was leaving & down the passage, the junior doctor asked if I was diabetic. I found this strange as I had noted this ailment in their medical questionnaire. I answered yes & he said that he needed to do further tests. Note that, once dilated examination showed no problems there is no need to do any further tests. I waited about 45 minutes & told the lady who was my consultant that I have to leave & make an appointment for another day. She said that they had the authorization, held my hand & took me to the scanning machine. After the scans were done junior doctor produced scans prints of both of my eyes. He said that both my eyes had blood clots at the back but the left one was worse & needed immediate laser treatment whilst my right eye must be done in two weeks. He showed me prints of two scans with dark lines. My current doctor showed me scans on 02 April 2024 similar to that which the junior doctor showed me. I asked what the dark lines were. He said that they were the blood vessels. I asked if that was a problem. He said that they were normal & there was no problems. Only then I realized that the junior doctor either misdiagnosed or misled me that my eyes had blood clots / Diabetic Retinopathy. The following is an extract from my email to the practice dated 17 March 2021:-

“Trust that all is well with you. Kindly note that after the treatment to my left eye it has not been normal. Sometimes the left eye gets tired, starts to water & my vision on the left corner of the eye is not clear. I did not have any problem with my vision prior to my consultation with the junior doctor. I was hoping that the problems will go away but has not. Kindly ask the doctor what I should do. “

On 19 March 2021 they rep**** Thank you for your email. As ffl:- “To best assist you should come in for a follow up appointment so he can take a look and advice further. I have made the booking on 26/03 @11h15 with a senior doctor as the junior doctor is in Trichardt for consultations on the 26 March 2021.

After the appointment with the senior doctor, I emailed the practice on 29 March 2024 as ffl:-

“I explained to the senior doctor the above problems & that my left eyeball sometimes gets very sore. After the examination said that there was no problem with my eyes, but I should come back after two months for a further check-up with the junior doctor. I hereby note that the problems with my left eye are still there. Kindly request the doctors to supply a full report of what treatments were done to my eyes on 18 February 2021 & 26 March 2021. I need to get an independent check up with another Ophthalmologist to find out why I am having problems with my left eye.”

The junior doctor noted in his written report that he performed the laser treatment as a precautionary measure. He was obviously over servicing as there was no blood clots / Diabetic Retinopathy. If there is no problem then preforming laser treatment as a precautionary measure is absurd. He definitely over serviced as my medical aid had given them an authorization for the laser treatment. Due to his & possible the practice’s greed, my left eye is damaged & to this day I am having many problems with it. The senior doctor, a former senior partner of the practice, who now has his own practice, says in his recent email to me that when I consulted him on 26 March 2021 there were no scans in the file. This despite the junior doctor showing prints of the scans. He confirmed that I did not have Diabetic Retinopathy in both my eyes when I consulted him on 26 March 2021. The senior doctor says that he did not know that the junior doctor had performed laser treatment to my left eye when I consulted with him. The senior doctor is being dishonest because I informed him that I was having problems with my left after the junior doctor preformed laser treatment to my left eye. It is obvious that the senior is protecting the junior doctor. The junior doctor notes that he did the laser treatment as a precautionary measure whilst my original Ophthalmologist said that he does not do laser treatment even if the patient has Diabetic Retinopathy, if the patient is not having problems. In my case I did not have problems or Diabetic Retinopathy, but the junior doctor insisted that I needed immediate laser treatment to my left eye & in two weeks' time to my right eye. The junior doctor does not say in his report that he said that I need laser treatment on my right eye in two weeks' time. My email, to them, which they acknowledged, I explained I cannot come in two weeks' time for laser treatment to my right eye. My original Ophthalmologist, in his report, says that he has been treating me from 2016 & up until I consulted him in June 2021, as I was still having problems with my left eye, that I do not have Diabetic Retinopathy. My current Ophthalmologist who I consulted in 2022, said that both my eyes do not have Diabetic Retinopathy. He said that he would not have known that I was diabetic if I did not tell him as both my eyes do not have any problems. On 27 October 2023 he did scans & again confirm that I do not have Diabetic Retinopathy. The scan shows the badly scarred left eye. I have emailed this scan to Dr. Meyer and partners' practice.

The biggest problem is that the practice says that I must get my attorneys to contact them. Why can’t they deal with me directly?</div>
