WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR

If there was zero stars, it would be more applicable. 3 months ago- I had numerous persons refer me stating if anyone could assist, this Opthalmologist could as she was so good. Well personal experience dictated otherwise! This is the 3rd week since seeing this Opthalmologist who knew how much pain and discomfort I was in. Left her office with nothing more than a promise "to get to the bottom" of the cause, and that she would speak to a Neurologist and call me the following week. R1000 cash paid and STILL waiting on a Referral Letter 3 weeks later after she phoned me and basically told me to see an ENT, get blood tests and see a Neurologist and that it would take someone with a lot of medical knowledge to diagnose the problem - that was her extent of "getting to the bottom of it", and pity she didn't mention that before taking my money. 3 emails and 2 calls later and still nothing. Having to beg for a Referral Letter after paying R1000 is a disgrace. Would definitely NOT recommend!!! Its all about grabbing your cash, and no real care for the patient and their pain or issue. ------- Week 4 and Referral letter finally arrived. 20 days after consultation! No apology attached, but rather notifying me that she would no longer see me due to my "tone". The nerve! Then to add insult to injury, she concluded the Referral letter by defaming my character. All because I had to send 6 mails and make 3 calls to try get the letter she had promised. Absolute disgraceful behaviour from a Clinician. ------- I have also since found a note on one of the emails, that Dr Hurley failed to delete between her employee Carmen and herself, where Carmen unprofessionally wrote " OMG............SERIOUSLY!!!!!!" on my email querying the delayed Referral letter requested. Not only the unprofessionalism, but the allowing of a staff member to make a comment about a patient like that, and to add insult to injury, it was Carmen herself that 1) took my calls and emails and did not relay messages, 2) advised me when I called, that the doctor had actually asked her to query with me who I was going to see [note that I called her - she never bothered to phone me and query], and 3) told the doctor that I wanted to see a Neurosurgeon - which I never had. I stated I would be seeing an E.N.T. and Neurologist and as it was undecided who to see first, the Referral letter could be made out to "Whom it may concern".

The subsequent clinicians I've seen who have read the defamatory comments at the foot of her Referral letter were shocked at how unprofessional that was, along with the "OMG.........SERIOUSLY!!!" comment on the mail from her receptionist Carmen. It has only placed her in bad light with her colleagues, who have been equally disgusted at the conduct. I was advised to refer the matter to the HPCSA which I may still do.

This doctor and her staff are rude and unprofessional and I would not recommend them at all. Total waste of R1000!
