Dr Dion Craig Opperman - Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital

I visited neurologist Dr Dion Craig Opperman at the new Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital in Cape Town in January after being referred by my doctor. The consultation lasted literally ten minutes and all he did was examine me, test my reflexes and ask a few questions. Once that was done he suggested that I wait three weeks to see if my symptoms improved on their own and said that if they did not improve I should call him so that he could book me in for a scan. I tried to call him too many times but the secretary (who is so old that she can barely do her job) either said he wasn't in or wasn't available. I was allowed to speak to the nurse who said that Dr Opperman wanted me to come in for a second visit. I said that it would be difficult for me to take another sick day and asked to speak to Dr Opperman just to find out why he needed me to come in. Dr Opperman has still not called me back. In my opinion he is simply trying to get more money out of my medical aid. I would suggest that anyone in need of a neurologist rather avoid Dr Dion Craig Opperman.
