Totally uncaring and un-interested

I received completely unacceptable treatment from Dr. Dean Gersun and his office.

During our interactions, I had to continually follow up with the Dr every step of the way. Most calls were only returned after the 2nd or 3rd message that I left.

My biggest issue though is that I was called on the 14th of August and told my surgery could be done on the 1st of September. I agreed that the date would be perfect and was told I would be called again on the 24th of August, with final confirmation and all relevant medical aid codes for approval.

I was not called on the 24th (not that past experience had taught me to expect anything less!) and I eventually called them on the afternoon of the 25th to confirm.

The receptionist said to me "Just hang on, let me speak to the doctor quickly, I remember your name was mentioned in a meeting a few days ago" I heard talking in the background then was told, "Oh no, the doctor can’t do that surgery for you, it will have to be for another day".

I literally put my life on hold for a week, cancelled some very important meetings and my wife took leave for the day. They didn`t even have the decency to just call me to tell me the surgery was not going to happen on that day. The receptionist KNEW for days prior to my call that it wasn't going to happen, but couldn't be bothered to inform me.

No apology, no call from the doctor, just "tough luck pal!" from the receptionist.
