Dr Dale Peterson , Gastroenterologist , Melomed Tokai was very ********* and unprofessional . My wife was admitted into hospital because she was turning yellow, blood tests and scans were done by the specialist physician on duty, there were anomalies in the scans and was referred to Dr Dale Peterson, The diagnoses was that she had pancreatic cancer. He called in the family and explained the situation and told my wife to get her affairs in order because she had 6 to 12 months to live which was devastating to the family especially to her 2 little girls on top of that with saying she has 6 to 12 months to live he does a colonoscopy which in my mind with saying so was not necessary. sends me a bill of R21000 the medical aid only pays R8000 and stuck with a shortfall of R13000 which i as the main member never gave consent for him to go ahead and do. I then contacted his rooms and explained to his secretary that I spoke to Discovery and they advised me to contact Dr Dale Peterson to request motivation on why he did the colonoscopy in order for them to review the claim which he did not do because they never reviewed the claim. 4 days ago I received a message from medcollections saying I owe R20000. How in 1 month does my bill jump from R13000 to R20000. I feel that I was overcharged for a procedure that consent was not given for. The emails which were sent to his rooms to relook at the amounts he charged was never responded to by him. To add to this, the day of the colonoscopy, after calling the family in and telling us that my wife had 6-12 months to live, Dr Peterson told my wife that there is a doctor prepared to do a wipple resectioning for her. Why not find out all the facts before giving the family and my wife such devastating news. Its been 6 months since the diagnosis and my wife has recovered from the operation and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
