Exorbitant and unnecessary treatment

I went to see a DR CRAIGE GOLDING for a hormonal imbalance 2 weeks ago. When I made the appointment I was told It will cost R1600 for the first Hour. I was called into his rooms at the appointed time.

I told him about my symptoms, chronic pain and what medication I am taking. He did a physical examination that was over in 2 mins. My total time in his room was 7 minutes flat.

I was then told that Antionette who is the lady at the desk would sort me out. She told me I need to go to the lab on site to do blood test. Thereafter I was told to go to the Drip Room where 10 different samples of blood were taken Immediately after that I was given 3 IV drips that lasted 1 hour.

I was not told what was the purpose of the IV drips, nor was I informed of the eye watering cost. Next I was told to go to dispensary and collect 4 different types of Vitamins. Then the shock came when I was asked to pay.

I had not even digested this shocking amount and I was told I would need to come for the next 6 weeks, 1 hr per week to get the IV drips at a cost of R2250 per week.

In addition to that I was also told that I need to take these Vitamins for the next 6 months which meant R1380 per month.

A nagging question is why would DR CRAIGE GOLDING do 3 IV drips without waiting for the blood results. The blood results came in 5 days later. When I requested my blood results, some results were held back. When I asked about it I was told I need to come in and DR CRAIGE GOLDING will explain the results, NOT mentioning it will cost me R1250 for him to tell me about my results, by now I was a bit wiser and sadly much much poorer but I asked, will DR CRAIGE GOLDING charge, that"s when Antionette said YES R1250.

My GP explained it to me at no cost.

Shocking that the patient is not told about any of this upfront and given the option to decide if they can afford it or would like to discuss with their GP.

This whole procedure was forced upon me, I was not made aware at any stage during the entire time I was there that I would be R5280 poorer after walking out of DR CRAIGE GOLDING rooms.

I am a pensioner and to be cheated out of money like that is unacceptable.
