Disappointing Experience with Dr. Charl van Niekerk

I was admitted under Dr. van Niekerk’s care at Kloof Hospital for severe abdominal pain. Unfortunately, his approach was cold and dismissive. He spent minimal time with me, failed to explain the results of my colonoscopy clearly, and left me feeling disrespected and unheard. Despite finding ulcers (which I later realized he referred to as "blasies"), he didn’t explain their significance or offer guidance on managing my condition.

I also waited over 24 hours without food or water for the colonoscopy, with no updates or communication, only to have the procedure delayed until late afternoon. His extreme workload (reportedly from 6:30 AM to midnight) clearly impacts his attentiveness and patient care.

While his surgical skills may be praised, his bedside manner and communication with patients leave much to be desired. This experience has made me hesitant to seek medical help in the future, which is deeply concerning.
