Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience

Medical doctor with deplorable bed side manner. All patients deserve to be treated with dignity, regardless of their appearance, weight, or personal circumstances. The doctor’s attitude was dismissive, and there was a clear lack of empathy and professionalism. He should clearly know by now that overweight/obesity is a complex, chronic medical condition. It is NOT a condition caused by a lack of willpower or because of gluttony.

Various genetic, hormonal, medical, social and environmental factors play a role in this DISEASE, and simply “eating less and moving more” does not suffice for the majority of individuals living with overweight/obesity. A medical professional should create a supportive environment, not one where patients feel embarrassed or judged.
