Do not trust - Dr Anton Botha Practice number: ***

One of Anton Botha’s clients is trying to apply for Life Cover, Disability and Dread Disease with Liberty Life. One of the requirements was for the Dr to fill in a form of two pages and to send this back with any supporting reports.

My first communication to the Dr was an email on the 31/01/2020. There was no reply to this email. My second follow up email was on the 02/02/2020. There was still no answer. My 3rd communication was on the 13/02/2020. Still no reply. The last email I sent was on the 28/02/2020. Again still no reply.

I tried to contact his rooms but both numbers were not in service. I was then informed that he in fact did not have any secretary or receptionist working for him at all. I then called the Dr to which he assured me that the reports were ready and that they were just waiting on a payment and that the invoice would be sent later that day. This was obviously not the case. We only received the invoice on 03/03/2020 which we paid that very same day. This invoice was for R1000.00 to fill in two pages, which I find to be ********* as the standard rate is R600.00. When explaining this to him via email he was very quick to reply with a snotty email saying that he does not negotiate his fees and he will have no further communication until he receives his money.

It is now the 18/03/2020 and we have still not received any documents. It has now been 47 days since I first contacted him. Because of his total lack of respect and willingness to cooperate he has now jeopardised my clients chances of getting the cover.

When phoning the Dr he initially ignored my calls and when I did get through to him he was VERY RUDE and stated that “I will get the form when I get them”.Then he proceeded to put the phone down in my ear.This is AFTER he had received the money.

I find this behaviour ********* as he has taken an oath to put his patients first. He is definitely not doing this. If something should happen to my client in the interim then I will be holding him personally responsible for negligence.

I believe that this man is only interested in money and not his patients! My client has confirmed that she is not the only one that is experiencing a lack of ethical treatment and respect that one should expect from a person in his position. Before the operations he is very helpful and willing to assist however after the surgery he is nowhere to be see or heard of. This just shows that he does not care about his patient who entrust in him for their medical needs.

I have lodged a complaint with the HPCSA to report this person. In my opinion he should not be allowed to practice medicine as he has no intention of living up to the Hippocratic oath he has taken.

I am sick to death of these doctors thinking they are higher than GOD. This behaviour is simply disgusting!!
