I'm leaving this review as a warning to others about the appalling service we received from Dr. Albert Viljoen. My partner went to Dr. Viljoen for a pituitary tumor surgery in July 2024. From the jump, communication with Dr. Viljoen was surprising and unprofessional and he made the issue extremely urgent that we couldn't seek second opinion. At the time, he called my partner on the phone to inform him of the tumor, without even setting up a proper appointment to discuss the diagnosis and treatment options and we literally had to beg for a pre-op appointment. After the surgery, he never provided a thorough report on the procedure, and we were left in the dark about what happened during the surgery. The lack of care and communication from Dr. Viljoen doesn't even deserve one star honestly. He wrote a brief report in Afrikaans, knowing that we don't speak Afrikaans and we had to find someone to translate it for us. Despite our requests, he refused to see my partner for a post-op appointment, saying he doesn't see patients after the surgery To make matters worse, Dr. Viljoen recommended radiation treatment (through his PA) without even seeing my partner again, which was not only unprofessional but also potentially harmful. Luckily, we sought a second opinion from another Dr. who reviewed the scans and strongly advised against radiation so unfortunately he had to undergo another surgery with the new Dr. (Thank God the second surgery was successful).
