DPD Laser - A Disgrace

If I could give zero stars, I would. DPD Laser has proven—repeatedly—that it is incapable of delivering even the most basic service: actually showing up.

For the second time, my parcel was marked “delivery could not be completed,” despite the recipient being home all day, waiting. No call. No knock. Nothing. Just another auto-generated excuse, followed by another vague SMS promising “tomorrow.” This is not a once-off error — this is their standard operating procedure.

DPD Laser does not respect your time. It does not respect your effort to be available. And it certainly does not respect the people left sitting at home for hours, even days, with no contact and no result.

Other couriers—Courier Guy, Aramex, even Takealot—manage just fine. DPD Laser? Useless. Their service is a joke, and their management appears totally absent. They hide behind automation and offer no real accountability. Clients are treated like barcodes—faceless, voiceless, and entirely disposable.

If this is the future of delivery in South Africa, we’re in trouble. As long as retailers like Temu continue using DPD Laser, I’ll think twice before placing another order.

Avoid them if you value your time—or your sanity.

Reviewer Update
Follow-up: One Person Made the Difference – Thank You, Juliet Snell
Following my earlier review regarding repeated delivery failures and a deeply frustrating customer experience, I would like to post this follow-up — because when something changes for the better, it should be acknowledged just as clearly.

After numerous delays, missed delivery attempts, and silence from DPD Laser’s operational systems, Juliet Snell, a Senior Operations Manager, personally stepped in. She took full ownership of the issue, communicated directly, and ensured the parcel was delivered exactly as promised — within the time window she committed to. It was handled with care, urgency, and respect.

In a situation where I had completely lost faith in the company’s service, Juliet’s intervention restored a measure of trust — not just because the parcel arrived, but because someone took the time to act like the customer mattered. That alone made all the difference. My hope now is that DPD Laser’s leadership recognises what they have in Juliet — someone who understands service, owns outcomes, and represents the kind of leadership this company desperately needs. I sincerely encourage her superiors to empower her fully, because if DPD Laser had more people like Juliet driving operations, they would not be receiving the kind of negative reviews I and many others have posted.

Thank you again, Juliet — not just for resolving this issue, but for showing what professional accountability looks like.
