Uncaring, unfeeling and very pricey.

My dad passed away over the weekend. On Monday I phoned Doves regarding his policy. I was told that the policy would have to be authenticated through their Cape Town office. They couldn't tell me when my fathers remains would be collected from the mortuary or when the cremation would take place, as they had to wait for feedback. They quoted me R17500 for a simple cremation without a service.... I decided to contact a different family run funeral service, and boy was I surprised. They were friendly, heartfelt and so caring. They told me they would collect my dad immediately, keep him safe until Thursday, when he would be cremated at 10.... and all of that for only R9800.

I phoned Doves back, to tell them that I had decided to use a different funeral service. Well, the gentleman went off on me, that I had misunderstood him, and that he didn't tell me that he couldn't collect the body etc etc. Totally unfeeling, rude, and damn near disgusting.

I can't understand how a business that is supposed to treat a person with dignity and respect, can be so impolite, rude and unfeeling. Also why does their prices differ from a family owned funeral services to a big company like Doves?

Needless to say, Doves will not be my preferred service provider going forward.
