So disappointing

On the 28th October 2019, I Yolanda Marais had called the Doves Funeral service (Isipingo Branch) to get a quote for the funeral service of my late Brother. Upon calling I received a Quote over the phone which stated the following: Transport of the Body from Durban to Kimberly Casket; Grave side setup; Programme Sheet; Wooden cross; Flowers Refreshments: Water & Juice My first grievance is that on the 01 November 2019, we checked in with the company if everything had been sorted, only to be told that the grave plot was not included, we were then told to pay a further R2500.The branch provided us details on a page that did not even have the company letter head, due to this we had to face issues at the bank whilst making the payment. On the day of the funeral, (02 November 2019), we received a call from Doves Funeral service stating that they have not received payment (Which we had made prior to leaving Durban). They also stated that due to this they cannot release the body. We then emailed the receipt of payment to the company. After receiving the receipts the body was released. During our most difficult time, Dove Funeral service has placed us in turmoil and has added to our stress levels. This is pathetic service and what’s worst is that people expect sympathy from such services, especially taking into consideration the money that we spend on such services. My Biggest question is How did the funeral service transport my brothers body from Durban to Kimberly if they did not receive payment? My Second grievance is that after going through the first ordeal Doves put us through …… Upon arriving at the gravesite, we were even more distraught to find that some of the items included in our quote was not provided. We did not receive a wooden cross, there were no hymns on the programme sheet. We were only provided with 15 chairs and 15 bottles of warm water and no juice. Doves needs to provide my family with compensation or a full refund for the items not provided, we deserved better treatment from your company instead we received a feeling of no regard. I choose to go with your company as your slogan reads “Insuring a Dignified Service”, It is disappointing as we received the worst service from Doves.

Due to Doves negligence’s, we were not able to give my brother the send-off he deserved nor were we able to grieve in peace as Doves placed upon us other difficulties we needed to fix. This is not acceptable and failure to receive any compensation will evoke me to take this to the media. Other people deserve to know the pathetic service that I received from your company. So, that they can make correct choices for their loved ones.
