If you think life is expensive, wait till you encounter death!

When choosing a funeral policy one would expect to be able to cover at the very least a basic minimalistic funeral service. However the policies which they offer barely cover the cost of a funeral especially if one was to use their services, which to my disgust are almost 3 times that of other funeral parlours. I was quoted R16800 for a cremation service package, which is a very basic no added bell's and whislte package. I enquired by two other established service providers and was quoted the second highest R6000 for a complete package and the other provider, one which I am going with R5000. Compared to Doves which my mom believed would provide a suitable service to her, as they did 7 years back when we used them for my fathers burial.

Insult to injury.....

My mother paid her premiums religiously on time and even advancing payments to ensure one is never missed. She had two policies "active" with Doves one which she continued following the passing of my father. But when claiming we founf that somehow her own policy had lapsed and only the one of my father will be able to cover. So instead of having two R5000 policies pay out, we can only bank on one and still end up having to cover the shortfall, which she planned to avoid by keeping two "active".

All premiums paid we are awaiting for someone to respond w.r.t to the lapsed policy and what the way forward could be, bear in mind we need to cover the funeral. So please treat this plea with a matter of URGENCY!

Until this is resolved I would encourage others to "take flight" when they think of Doves as a good funeral service provider, if they can provide that service to you.
