DOVES - WHAT A RIPOFF WHEN YOU'RE IN MOURNING

We used Doves a few years ago when my Dad passed away and were impressed with the way they handled everything and the service we received, so naturally when passed away in March we decided to use them again. WHAT A MISTAKE.

We requested a simple private cremation with no frills and return of the cremains as we intended scattering her ashes as per her wishes.

Firstly, their system was down and communication was difficult to say the least. They then invoiced us an amount of R23,993.60 - when I queried the breakdown I was told that they couldn't provide one and that was the standard cost. To date, even after contacting the Durbanville Head Office, we have YET to get the breakdown. We also refused the Kiaat Urn and requested a refund which I am still waiting for.

According to SA Law we have a right to know exactly what we were charged for and yet Doves think they are acting within the law when they fail to (A) Provide the breakdown as requested and (B) Provide the refund on the Urn not taken.

It's been 3 weeks of no communication from them. I'll be taking the matter further with the Funeral Board.
