Dover Parts - poor show

We, TheJourneymann Motor Service Centre Benoni, - purchased an ‘original’ diesel fuel pump from Dover in December 2018. It was for my own Freelander I 2,0l TD4 We fitted the pump to the vehicle and experienced a ‘low fuel pressure’ pre high pressure fuel pump fault when the vehicle was driven on the freeway and as the vehicle got to around 80km/h . At this point the vehicle was parked and we started fault finding again in April 2019. This delay was due to other work commitments and at the time it wasn’t an urgent issue to be resolved. In April 2019 we started fault finding on the vehicle again and checked the fuel pressure with an inline fuel pressure gauge and found that the feed pressure from the new pump only gave us 2,5bar at idle and dropped to around 1,8bar at 2500 RPM and the engine fault light on the dash illuminated. In my opinion it was due to the faulty diesel fuel pump we had purchased for R2403.50 from Dover Parts. We called the company - Dover Parts in Selby and told them we suspected a faulty diesel fuel pump and wanted to log a claim. On the 2nd on April 2019 We sent the original invoice together with the completed claim form and faulty fuel pump via a courier service back to them and awaited feedback. We received a call from their sales consultant on or about the 09 March 2019. He stated that they had been told that petrol had been found inside the diesel fuel pump and our claim was voided - he also enquired why we had taken so long to send them this claim. I explained that we had to first complete other unrelated work and then when time permitted to do fault finding on this particular vehicle till we had satisfied ourselves that we had identified the problem. I asked to speak to the owner of the business - Bill - this is his reply to me when I told him that I was definitely not happy and did not agree with the feedback I had received: ‘we sent the pump away for testing and before they even tested the pump the guy who has been doing this for over 100 years found petrol running out of the pump, he didn’t even bother testing it and your claim is rejected’ This is where I leave this issue - I will give u feedback on the diesel fuel sample we sent away for testing just to prove my point that they **** about the petrol in the diesel pump and they are certainly not a company I would want to deal with in the future Regards Johan
