My vehicle's gearbox started slipping. The car started normal and drove normal as long as I was gentle on the throttle and there was level ground. I believe all that was needed was new friction plates. We accepted a quote of R25 000 and and delivered the car to Dougie's in July 2024. We were told that we at least have to pay for the parts up front which was R21 000 since they cannot or do not work any other way. After the repairs were done we were told that the repairs did not fix the problem. They said there is something else that needs to be repaced and we need to pay an additional amount. After that part was fitted the gearbox was still not fixed. Again we had to pay for yet another part which also did not solve the problem. Eventually we went to their workshop to see for ourselves what the problem is and drove the car around the block. The vehicle was stuck in a single gear and the ride felt as if something is s****ing in the gearbox. Tgis is not how the car behaved when we gave it to them. We returned the car after they promised to send it to an expert for another opinion. After one year and four months the car was still not fixed and we had paid R51700. We were told that we need yet another part which will cost another R8000, labour excluded. We refused and told them to ready the car for collection. We were told that we cannot get the car since we still owe R600 on our invoice. This after we spent R51700 and was without a car for 16 months. We off cause refuse to pay any more money and while writing this review our car is still being held ransom.
