WORST INSURANCE

I purchased the vehicle on 17 October 2025. Less than two months later. On 14 December 2025 after 2 months, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident where my vehicle sustained severe rear-end damage and was subsequently deemed a total loss (uneconomical to repair). After following all required procedures, my claim was formally declined on 19 March 2026.

Despite consistently ensuring my account was funded, they initially tried to decline my claim by citing non-payment of premiums. My premiums are scheduled for the 25th of each month, yet they failed to deduct the funds and then attempted to blame me for their administrative failure.

When I called to resolve this, the consultant was unhelpful, acting as if I was at fault despite my account having sufficient funds. It was only after I reviewed my own policy document that I discovered the mandatory grace period for missed deductions.

I even offered to visit their branch in George to pay in person, but I was told this was not possible. Eventually, a payment arrangement was made for the deduction to occur within 7 days, which was successfully completed.

It is clear that this company uses 'non-deduction' as a standard excuse to reject claims, which is a disgraceful business practice.

Once the payment was successfully processed, I proceeded with the claim. An investigation was conducted, my statement was taken, and the names of all witnesses were provided to the investigator.

The claim was rejected citing my refusal to undergo ankle surgery. My choice of medical treatment is a personal right and does not invalidate the reality of my injuries, which have been documented and submitted.

Allegations of Intoxication: The insurer cited a bank transaction at an establishment that serves food and beverages as evidence of intoxication. A financial transaction at a restaurant is not legal proof of impairment or blood alcohol content.

Leaving the Scene: I have previously clarified that leaving the scene was not an act of malice; it was a necessity for my personal safety and to seek medical attention.

Having told the Investigator I did not plan to leave the scene or pre-arrange private transport. My departure was not premeditated; rather, an acquaintance happened to see me and offered assistance. After waiting at the scene, I decided to accept the ride solely for my personal safety and to seek urgent medical attention. Seeing my physical condition and the safety risks of remaining there, he offered to rescue me.

Secondly, the claimed that the accident was reported to the SAPS several days later is incorrect. I previously explained to the investigator that upon being discharged from the hospital on the same evening of the accident, I went directly to the Conville SAPS to report the incident. At the station, I was informed that my vehicle had already been towed to J & B Auto Spares & Towing Services.

Witness Statements: I provided the contact details of four witnesses. The insurer only contacted two and failed to reach the others, resulting in an incomplete investigation.

Although I provided the names of several witnesses, their accounts were not properly considered. While two witnesses have been difficult to reach via telephone, I believe a face-to-face interview would be a more effective way to secure their statements.

Furthermore, as there were many people whose names have not yet been recorded, I request that Dotsure allow me to bring forward additional reachable witnesses to ensure a fair and comprehensive investigation.

My statement was inaccurately captured. Despite pointing out numerous times that the investigator was mistaking names and facts, these errors were never corrected.

Furthermore, Dotsure needs to be more flexible regarding the South African languages used during investigations. English can often be a barrier that prevents a person from fully articulating the details of an incident.

To ensure an accurate and fair process, I should have been allowed to provide my statement in my primary language to avoid these misunderstandings.

This insurance company is the worst insurance company.
