What a *******- Issa trap

I lodged for my vehicle after I hit a pothole. The incident occurred 2 months ago and my vehichle has been a panel beater since. The panel beater, Randbow, quoted me R41000.00+ for the repairs of the pothole damage and Elelwane Connie Muthavhi, who was assigned to assist with the claim, has been extremely redundant and *********** in her role. I hit a pothole 31 March 2018. I called in within 3days or so as it was the long Easter weekend, and still my car is not repaired. I took the rim for repairs at a local panel beater and I was told that the car had an oil leakage as a result of the incident. I refrained from using the vehicle as the alignment was also damaged and informed insurance, Oakhurst/ Dotsure, and proceeded to lodge a claim. I was told I have pothole cover, so my claim was forwarded to road protect for the tyre and rim damage, and said I should submit a claim for mechanical damages directly to Oakhurst as well. I have since done so, and they had initially refused to tow my car after I expressed my discomfort in driving it due to the leakage. It took them like almost 2weeks to realize this was an included benefit on my cover. The vehicle was towed to their panel beaters.

The panel beaters contacted me within 1/2days of receiving the vehicle, stating that they needed the damaged rim. I advised them that it was in the boot with the tyre, and the gentleman insisted that it was not there and became defensive, asking me if I’m calling him a **** and offered to send pictures. I then gave him my uncle’s number, where the vehicle was parked before it was collected. He spoke to my uncle and when I called to confirm whether he found the rim, he just said, “oh yeah, forgot to call you back”. This was very unsettling

Connie Muthavhi, Oakhurst's Investigations Administrator sent me an email with a quotation of close to R50 000.00. I called them to get clarity and they said I will be liable to pay R37000.00+ before the can proceed with the repairs. Of which I would have to give the go-ahead for the claim to be processed, which I did not do as R37000.00+ is a ridiculous amount to pay for car repairs when you have insurance. That time I'm paying R786.00 monthly premiums, and not a single month missed. I was informed that as per my policy document, there will be an additional 10% excess, which they calculated to be R12,500.00,charged because there was no other vehicle involved in the incident and another 10% (R12,500.00)excess for being under 30years of age. I do not recall to agreeing to this when the policy was sold to me telephonically, and because I agreed to take out the policy based on the information provided telephonically, I expected nothing different in writing. I requested the telephone recording 25 April 2018 and to date I have not received it.

I have sent countless email to Connie, with no response or even acknowledgement of my emails On 2 May 2018 I received R4,800 and somewhat rands from the insurance, and was thoroughly shocked as I was told I needed to give consent before the claim can be processed, which I had not done as I was still disputing the R37000.00+ that I was said to be liable to pay from my own pocket. I then sent an email of enquiry, but still received no response whatsoever. Today is 21 May 2018, and I'm forced to use public transport as my car is still at the panel beater. I then contacted the panel beaters and explained the whole scenario to them, and they advised me that insurance is yet to pay for storage and towing. And they have not said anything about that so I could also be liable for those costs as well.

I feel the people who are supposed to be assisting me have shown minimal interest and provided a very disgusting service. I have emailed them expressing my dissatisfaction and questioning this process as it is *********, but still received no response. I absolutely REGRET agreeing to this!
