Unfair handling of third party claim
I'm a third party claimant. I originally lodged my claim with Oakhurst insurance following an accident I was involved in with their client. I submitted all the required documents and waited the stipulated 60 working days period. After said period had lapsed I followed up as there was no feedback. I got a response from DotSure Liabilities, advising that the case had been referred to one of their consultants to investigate.
Further feedback stated that they had requested an excess payment from their client and would advise further.
On 30 December 2020, I received a call from one of their consultants advising that their client had confirmed that he would be able to pay the required excess in installments of R500. The consultant wanted to know if I was willing to wait for the amount to reach R4000 of the required excess. I advised that if that was all their client could afford, then I would wait. The consultant advised that she would let the client know that I was comfortable with the proposed arrangement.
About two weeks after that, in January 2021, I received an email from DotSure stating that their client was being uncooperative and that they would not be proceeding with my claim and that I should contact the client directly for the resolution of my claim.
When I expressed my dissatisfaction and displeasure at the manner in which this case was being handled, as I was basically being told to F***K off and see to finish with this claim.
I received a call where they basically emphasized how they would not be assisting because their Ts&Cs apparently stated that the client had to pay the full amount upfront.
What a wow DotSure! So if the client is only able to pay YOU R500 a month to make up the required R4000 excess, what am I going to get from the client towards the damages to my car?????? You have more access to the client than I do, because you collect a monthly premium from the client. So, as a third party claimant, i'm left high and dry.
