The worst!
I wish there was a way I could give them 0 stars. Probably the most unreasonable people I've ever interacted with.
So what happened was, I took a motor warranty cover with them in October 2023. In December of the same year, my car had smoke coming from the front of the car, I thought it was overheating, so I logged a claim with them and I clearly stated that the car is smoking from the engine compartment, hence I think it's overheating. I then took the car to the mechanic for inspection, and he found that the car was not overheating, the cause of the smoke was an oil spill which happened when I was doing oil change so a few drops went onto the body of the engine thus burning and causing smoke when the engine is in operation. But before I could tell them (Dotsure) that, they told me that they cannot assist me with claim as I'm still within the 60-day waiting period.
Fast forward to February of 2024, my car had a breakdown, as it was losing coolant. I took the car to the mechanic and after thorough diagnosis, he told me the car overheated. I then submitted a claim to Dotsure telling them that the car is overheating, they asked for some documents, I sent them. Then there was no communication from them for a while, until I started calling them in June 2024 (5 months) later, which is when they told me that my claim was declined due to the fact that they do not cover overheating.
My question is, on the policy wording, there's a section that lists all the components that I'm covered for. There is also a section that lists what I'm NOT covered for and when I review it, there is nowhere that states that Overheating is NOT covered. After making those two claims (December 2023 and February 2024) why was I not made aware of the fact that I am not covered for overheating, since it is not explicitly stated on the policy wording that overheating is not covered? Why did it take them 5 months to let me know that my claim is declined?
Now the car has been at the mechanic's workshop all this time (since February) and they have been charging storage fees all along. So due to their unreasonable delay, the car owes close to R20 000 in storage fees and a further R32 500 in repair costs.
After trying to reason with Nate (their employee) he blatantly told me that they will not help me no matter what I say or do.
So from my own experience, I would advise everyone who is thinking about joining them to look elsewhere.
I hope everyone is seeing the unprofessionalism of these people
