Rejected claim for chronic condition
I am writing to formally request a reconsideration of the recent rejection of my claim for my elderly dog’s prescription food. I believe this decision is unfair and inconsistent with the care she requires for her ongoing medical condition.
My dog has been suffering from severe gastrointestinal issues for over 12 months, during which she has experienced significant and frequent bleeding. Her veterinarian prescribed a specific food that can only be purchased through a veterinary clinic, as it is essential to managing her condition and preventing further complications. Since starting this prescription food, her symptoms have improved significantly. This dietary adjustment has not only alleviated her suffering but also helps prevent the need for more costly and invasive treatments, such as surgery.
It is difficult to understand why a prescription diet, which is medically necessary and integral to her treatment, would not be covered under her policy. Had she been prescribed medication for the same condition, it seems likely the claim would have been approved. A prescription diet, in this case, serves the same function as medication by addressing and managing her serious health issues.
Given these circumstances, I kindly ask for a thorough review of my claim. I have been committed to maintaining my pet's health through appropriate care and treatment, and I believe this claim deserves reconsideration.
If this claim cannot be approved, I will be forced to consider canceling her policy and reallocating those funds towards her medical necessities.
