PAYING OF EXTRA EXCESS IS RIDICULOUS!!!

I recently was involved in an incident where a pedestrian on the highway ran into my car. Unfortunately, he was ****ed by the driver behind me. I tried my best to NOT cause a collision with other cars and succeeded. For this I am 'punished' by paying an EXTRA excess of R2500. You will pay an extra excess if there are no other cars involved in your incident. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!

Thank you for your swift response.

This was truly a traumatizing experience. It was absolutely beyond my control and not as though I was carelessly driving into someone or something. The person ran into the side of my car, over a short distance. He jumped from a stationary truck at the side of the highway without looking left, -or - right. His impact with my car must have knocked him over and the driver behind me, unfortunately bumped him. Sadly he died on the scene. It was a big emotional shock. I'm still processing it.

I tried to prevent impact with him and also not causing accidents by hitting other vehicles. This is a totally different situation like for instance someone, that out of negligence, gets involved in an incident that was caused out of carelessness.

Paying an extra R2500 excess in light of the picture I tried to paint, seems inappropriate.

Circumstances / situations like this should be evaluated on its own merits.

Looking forward to solve this amicably.

Regards
