Dot-UNsure... making policy holders.. not fans.. Do not believe positive reviews. I signed up for a aftermarket warranty.
During my warranty, I heard a minor knocking sound on my car. I took it in for an assessment. The same day I got a call from a Dotsure agent promoting another product which was a bit better product and more tailor made. I told him my car was in for an assessment and asked to call me later. After I got my assessment, I called Dotsure to see if the parts were covered, to which they automatically went to submit a claim, even though I was trying to find out about cover and not explicitly wanting to make a claim, I then accepted the fact that a claim was made.
When the sales agent called back I explained the story and told him even though my car was in, I would still like his product, but disclosed that I have a small issue with my suspension mountings.
He said he will find out what can be done and called me back saying the following, he cannot sign me up because I have a claim in progress, I asked him if the claim gets rejected / accepted can I still sign up and he said there will be a 30 day waiting period and I need to get a full damage report (Probably going to cost around R3000) before even signing up... The parts in question that I claimed for could be potentially wear and tear parts, yet I am not allowed to change my policy because of this. So if submit a claim for "brakes" and Dotsure rejects it, it means I can't sign up for any other policy that would perhaps cover my Engine without: A. Providing a full damage report prior to signing and B. Waiting 30 days for a waiting period even though I have an existing Dotsure policy which has been active for more than 60 days.
I understand if they tell me I cannot claim for a specific part that I previously claimed for in 30 days or until proof, that particular part was fixed. But I am talking of two unrelated parts, and possible Dotsure does not cover them on either policy.
I cannot believe I fell for this trap. Also the manager (Jason) told me they are not allowed to send me any Terms and Conditions in writing Until I sign up...
It is Bizzare...
