Dotsure BEWARE
I have been with Dotsure with both my dogs since 2018 and have never had issues with claims until this weekend. My dog had a bladder stone, which my vet wanted to treat without invasive surgery, a week and a half ago. She received antibiotics, pain meds and was put on a special diet to dissolve the stone. Dotsure paid half of this from the illness benefit (50%) which I accepted and knew about. On Friday 28 Nov 2022 my dog failed to urinate and was rushed to the vet. The bladder stone got lodged in her urethra, and it needed emergency surgery to remove it. She spent 2 nights in hospital, and had life saving surgery, to which, Dotsure paid only ~R2500 of the total hospital bill of ~R7200. I even had a motivational letter from the Vet stating this was an emergency, and my dog's life was in danger. Dotsure simply states this is a follow up of the first incident and will not reimburse the full surgery and hospital stay amount. They will only pay up to the R3600 claim limit for an illness. Beware of Dotsure, as they will find a way to not pay out proper claims for surgery and hospital stays, even when motivated by a Vet. I will definitely be looking for a pet insurance/medical aid from someone else after this disservice.
