Dot Sure Pet insurance: Be Careful!

Received my annual pet insurance increase from Dot Sure with a 15% increase.

Once queried see below mail and response with no final reply from Dot Sure: Hi Don,

Thank you for your enquiry.

I see the policy is undergoing a renewal effective 01 April which is the anniversary date of cover. This was an annual risk assessment done on the policy, this was also done because the limits were increased which brought it to what the average vet is charging today . Insurance is a risk-based product and annually, these risks get retroactively assessed in order to establish the appropriate premiums.

I have however reviewed your profile and I am able to reduce the renewal premium to R388.68 (both pets combined)

Please let me know if you are happy to proceed with this?

Kind regards,

My response with no reply even with a follow-up mail: Hi Annemi

Happy to proceed with the suggested increase.

Concern: Dot Active sends out a blanket price increase letter to consumers and those who don't complain will get a 15% increase. Your justification on your mail from Vet increases etc and risk profile dependent doesn't sit well with me as Dot Sure needs to negotiate with service providers accordingly to ensure increases are in-line with inflasion and on exceptions be 1% to 2% above inflation.

Please advise if this is the way Dot Sure operates on an annual basis to increase premiums? If so I will look for another insurer right away!
