Cancelled my Policy but ******* debit orders are going off my bank account

On 22 September 2017 I gave notice that I am cancelling my insurance policy with Dotsure and that I will only need cover until 30 September 2017. My policy and excess buster was paid in full for the whole month of September and I received my cancellation letter from Kimly Koert. On Thursday, 28 September Dotsure debited my account for the full amount of my policy (even though I had already paid in full for September, and when I called the call center I was told that I was debited because my policy was still active until 30 September (even though I had already paid for September).

When I cancelled the policy on 22 September, I asked Kimly if my account was going to be debited again and she said no.

So on Thursday i called my bank, reversed the insurance premium as well as the excess buster and told them to cancel my insurance policy with immediate effect and received a new cancellation letter from Jade Maart.

This morning I am receiving text messages from Dotsure saying that my Excess buster payment was returned unpaid and that they are going to try to debit my account again, and then a while later I got text messages stating that they had to cancel my policy due to non-payment.

I have had the worst service from Dotsure. This is unacceptable. These debit orders are ******* as I followed all the right steps to cancel my policy. I have also had to pay fees to my bank for stopping my debit orders, and was told by the bank that it was Dotsure's responsibility to stop the debit orders in the first place.

Dear Miss. E Van Zyl

We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

We confirm that on 22 September 2017 your policy was set for cancellation with effect 30 September 2017 as per your request, however;
We are unable to stop a debit order if the policy cancellation is requested 5 working days before the debit date;
In cases like this our normal procedure is to advise the client of the possibility of the debit order going through;
We then refund the premium should the debit go through successfully;
We apologise that our agent failed to advise you of same.

Our system is designed to cancel the policy immediately when the premium is reversed from the bank and this was the case with your Comprehensive cover.

Your Excess buster premium was not received in the month of September 2017 as the debit order was unsuccessful. Same is the reason why you received an sms confirming that you did not have cover for the month of September 2017.

We trust you find the above in order.

Your sincerely
