Bad Service

The day I started with my policy I asked the guy on the phone if I stay in a furnished rented house and my dog mess things up will I be covered he said Yes. I took the policy of R135 per month. The same as my mother that day. The guy said as long as the furniture is not mine or a family member’s I will be covered. So, my dog messed the matrass and the Sleeper couch. I claimed from the policy and they had so many excuses for not paying out. 1. The furniture must be someone else’s. (It is) 2. Dog must be watched 24/7 (never told) We I informed them this is unacceptable they emailed me back. 1. Was on basic plan (but I asked for the upper policy R135) 2. Debit order was R65 & R50 every month and after my email they suddenly changed the debit order to R135. 3. Told them to listen to recording, because they record our phone calls. But up until now no feedback from anybody.

I think this is totally unacceptable!!!!!! Hope I will get answer now!!!!!!

Dear Letitia

You had a Third Party Liability claim for an incident that occurred on 18 June 2018 under your Dotsure Pet Insurance Policy.

Our records confirm that Blikkies was covered under the Dotsure Pet Insurance ‘Basic plan’. The limits that app**** to ‘Blikkies’ cover was specified in the policy schedule that should’ve be read in conjunction with the policy wording. After conducting a full investigation, it came to light that Blikkies was left alone at the premises when the loss occurred. We confirm that no sufficient care nor reasonable steps were taken to prevent Blikkies from damaging the property that you claimed for.

We confirm you are not covered for damage that was caused to property that belongs to anyone residing with you or in your custody or in your control. As such, your claim was declined and concluded within the terms and conditions of your policy.

Furthermore to your complaint, our records confirm the R 50.00 once off premium you paid, was the Initiation Fee, and the R 68.09 was referral discounted premiums that was calculated from your full monthly premium, which you got 50% off.

Regrettably, taking the above into consideration we cannot fault the Insurer’s decision herein.

Regards
