Waiter demanding an extra tip

I had a deeply uncomfortable experience at Doppio Zero. Our waiter, expressed dissatisfaction after we tipped her. She said that her income is solely from tips and it is taxed at 2%. The implication was that our tip wasn’t enough to cover her transport. This kind of conversation puts unnecessary pressure on patrons and frankly feels like emotional *********!!!

It’s unacceptable that staff feel compelled to ask customers for additional tips just to make ends meet. Please pay your employees a fair wage. Customers should not be made to feel guilty for what is ultimately a failure of your business model. Tipping should be a gesture of appreciation and not a form of charity.
