On Sat, 25 Apr, I walked up to Doppio Greenside to treat the family and my parents (for whom I'm shopping during lock-down) to some freshly baked croissants and Turkish bread. The Sat before I'd already been to do the same, and their croissants and Turkish bread were amazing, as they usually are. But this past Sat was a bit of a disaster. The Turkish bread was great, but the chocolate croissant was dry, and the plain croissants were under-sized and dense. I returned them. The server behind the counter was clearly miffed with me, even more so when I explained the situation to the manager (don't know his name) who by now was in the store (he wasn't when I bought them). The manager apologised profusely and seemed genuinely concerned. I exchanged the croissants for some more Turkish bread, and was refunded the difference. The manager offered to drop off some of the freshly baked croissants as soon as they were ready, and took my telephone to arrange same. Needless to say, I never received a call, and as a result never received the croissants he had offered. I never asked for it, he offered, and that is the right way to go about service recovery. The problem is when you then also fail on your service recovery - that is inexcusable in my mind.
