I went to the Union Hospital in June last year with Covid 19. I was treated in emergency and the bill came to R2200.86 which I settled with the accounts department on my departure from the hospital. Before leaving I inquired from the lady that helped me if there was any amount still outstanding. Her reply was that everything had been paid in full. Three months later I received an sms from the above practice stating that I had an outstanding bill for the amount of R1700.00 and that should the amount not be paid within 2o days I would be handed over to their lawyers. I requested an invoice because I was never attended to be any Doctor from the above practice. There was a Dr Penny who handed me a prescription just before I was discharged the same day. If a person is charged R1700.00 to be handed a prescription there is something grossly wrong with this country and its judicial system. I have been handed over to Van Rhyns Attorneys and have still not received an invoice as of this moment.
