Extremely Poor Service and Aftercare from Dr. Graham Bayes at Netcare Alberton

Extremely Poor Service and Aftercare from Dr. Graham Bayes at Netcare Alberton I am deeply disappointed with the level of care my friend received from Dr. Graham Bayes at Netcare Alberton after undergoing a knee operation in April 2024.

From the start, there were clear issues with the surgery—specifically, the wound was not properly sewn shut. This led to a severe infection and persistent seeping, causing immense pain and emotional distress. Instead of addressing the situation adequately, Dr. Bayes failed to follow up or check on the progress of the recovery.

Since the initial surgery, my friend has been through an exhausting and costly ordeal:

The wound had to be reopened three separate times to remove foreign objects and address complications. He was forced to use a pump to remove fluid for a month. Wound care nurses had to be seen twice a week, at significant out-of-pocket costs that medical aid did not cover. Another doctor had to be consulted to address the complications, adding to the financial and emotional burden. Dr. Bayes' lack of communication and concern is unacceptable. A professional should take responsibility for their patients, especially when complications arise due to inadequate surgical practices.

This experience has caused unnecessary suffering and financial strain. I urge others to carefully consider their choice of surgeon, as Dr. Bayes has demonstrated a lack of accountability and professionalism in this case.

Netcare Alberton should also evaluate the quality of care provided by practitioners within their hospital to prevent such appalling situations from happening again.
