I know it's long but please read A doctor that cares more about money.

Since when are doctors all about money and couldn't care less about actually doing there job and giving patients the correct treatment and enough medication to actually get better.

My experience with a Dr Gail Leong ( Address - 100 Albertina Sisulu Road, Bezuidenhout Valley, Johannesburg 2094) was just that, all about the money! I took myself and my son (1 year 11months) to go see the doctor, this was our first time there. Firstly she charged R490 each for consultation and medication totally to R980 for the both of us which I thought was so ridiculous seeing that you getting examined through a gate and is very rushed. I explained my symptoms to the doctor and she checked my temperature, ears and throat through the gate and asked a few questions then gave me a antibiotic, another tablet and flustat (which is so cheap). I had a throat infection and this was a 4 day course I needed to complete which I thought shu how can I feel better so soon but ok she's the doctor. Then she told me I have to come back to syringe my ears cause they are full of wax, I must get some sweet oil or something to put in my ears ( I must go spend more money to get something for my ear ridiculous) and after I feel better she will syringe my ears and that will cost me another R300 (whaaaaaaat wow again absolutely ridiculous). Needless to say I knew I'm not coming back for that.

Then she examined my son she checked his temperature (acknowledge he has a fever), checked ears and throat. He to had a throat infection and she prescribed a antibiotic and some other thing which in my opinion didn't help anything. Even thou I told her he had a fever, she knew he had a fever (she took his temperature) and I explained to her how clogged up he is so much that the flem is sitting on his chest (stressed this fact) and his not breathing or sleeping very well. She prescribed absolutely nothing to help with the fever (I had to use my own fever medication) or with his clogged up Nose and flem on the chest.

Both myself and my son finished all our medications and did not feel better at all. I called the doctor and explained everything how we feeling and all and that we not recovered, she said we should come in today for a follow up. I said sure no problem then she tells me that will be another R300 each (I was so shock this is absolutely sickening and day light *******). I told her I can't afford that and then I asked why must I pay again for medication that she gave and it didn't help or make us better? She explained but very annoyed like who am I to ask her all these questions, she said that when she saw myself and my son we weren't so bad so she didn't want to give us the stronger medicine (which she probably should have given in the first place but she needed us to come back so she can make her money). Then she told me she's not a pharmacy she don't have all the medication here she can email me a prescription for me and my son to get stronger medication (I must now go spend more money to buy medication) and then she nicely ended off in a very annoyed voice why don't I go to a government hospital she can write me the prescription for pharmacy or letter for hospital (if I wanted to go stand in a government hospital with my baby I wouldn't have paid so much to see a private doctor). So I told her just send me the prescription (I wasn't happy at all).

What is so crazy is that had I told DR Gail Leong no problem I'll pay the R300 each for myself and my son for the follow up then all of a sudden she had the stronger medication available to treat me and my son (but she's not a pharmacy she doesn't have all medications). I didn't want all medications I wanted the doctor to give us the proper stuff to treat all our symptoms not just one symptom so you need us to come back so you can make your money. This is so greedy, disgusting and absolutely shameful, you are not a good doctor at all and I was not happy at all with your rushed service through a gate and your treatment of clients and most of all your medications you gave (extremely limited, very little, and didn't help),guess it's to ensure people come back for a follow up so you can make money. Your syrups doesn't even come with a s**** I mean that is the most basic thing almost all medications that's in liquid form come with a medicine s**** or with a medicine cap, I honestly believe because you are so cheap and all about the money you probably removed all of it (wouldn't be suprised).

Nonetheless I went to the pharmacy to get the prescription medication (what else can one do when you sick and especially your baby). When I got to the pharmacy I handed them the prescription and to my surprise without saying anything the pharmacist actually told me there are so many people that comes with a prescription from Dr Gail Leong and complains about how she overcharges people, always having people come back cause she gives the wrong medication or you not better at all then charges people for it and gives them prescriptions to get there own meds after spending so much at her practice. I was so disgusted honestly when I heard this.

Please people whatever you do don't go to Dr Gail Leong unless you have money to throw away then go see her or if your medical aid has unlimited gp visits, if it doesn't have unlimited gp vists rather don't go either she'll probably use it all. My experience was not a good one and I'll never back there again, please pay attention to this letter. Even putting the money factor aside her medication she gave did not help me or my son, she treated one of our symptoms even after telling her how we feeling even after I told her what all my sons going through she still just didn't worry and gave the bare medium medication to myself and my baby, the rest we had to deal with ourselves.

The service I received at the pharmacy was so brilliant and excellent was nothing close to the service I got from Dr Gail Leong. The pharmacist actually asked me so many questions about my symptoms and my son's and gave us some brilliant medication for my sons clogged nose and chest even after Dr Gail Leong sent the script she still didn't prescribe anything for my son's clogged chest, nose and fever can you believe it. Thanks to the pharmacist my sons already breathing and sounding much better and it's been day one of taking the new medication and already I see the changes.
