If you need a trustworthy company to handle your documents, then think twice before considering Doc Assist. Living overseas, I hired them to help me register with SACE. Among the documents entrusted to them was an original document – my PGCE certificate. This could not be helped and they accepted the responsibility, but promptly lost the document; as in immediately after they received my documents and confirmed they were all there, the PGCE certificate was suddenly lost. That was November 2020. Then followed a series of emails back and forth between myself and Janine Nair. She insisted I send them another copy of the certificate. I reminded her she had the original and could make her own copies. She seemed determined to not understand plain English, but kept repeating that I needed to send her a copy. Then at the height of my frustration, they went on holiday. It was only in January that Janine finally admitted that the certificate had been ‘misplaced’. To this day, it has not been recovered. Unisa (the issuer of the original document) refuses to reprint it as they are concerned that copies made in the past have been used for ‘nefarious purposes’. This leaves only two conclusions – either Doc Assist is negligent with their customers’ documents and unconcerned with the damage they cause, or members of their organisation deliberately ‘misplace’ original documents so they can be sold for the aforementioned ‘nefarious purposes’. So are they negligent or ********ly attuned? I don’t know. They refuse to answer any of my messages. To date, it has been 17 months of frustration. I am still waiting.
