UNRELIABLE SERVICE

This is a company that cannot be recommended. We contracted DMW Kagesi to supply and install a Sunsynk hybrid inverter and a Sunsynk battery to an installation that already had solar panels and a Kodak grid-tied inverter. We received a quotation on 12 Jan 23 for the sum of R67545 which required a deposit of R62000 which is not unusual for this kind of work. The deposit was paid into their account as requested and work was scheduled to commence on 19 Jan 23. This did not happen, and after numerous phone calls to the owner of DMW Kagesi, Mr Willie Kleynhans, work eventually commenced on 25 Jan 23. The new inverter was installed, additional cabling, switches and a DB were fitted, and on the second day when the team started packing up, I questioned where the battery was and I was told by Mr Kleynhans that he “forgot” the battery in his car at home. He promised to install the battery and the change-over switch the following day. This never happened. Between 26 Jan and 31 Jan, numerous telephone calls took place, many were unanswered by Mr Kleinhans, he never responded to messages and claimed to be “out of reception” It was at this point that we realised that there was no battery, and he had no intention of completing the job. I eventually got hold of him on 31 Jan and he said that he would ask his wife to transfer the balance of the R62000 deposit back into my account immediately. This also did not happen. At this point I had to send him a strongly worded email and threatened him with legal action, and it was only at this point that funds were transferred back into my account. He deducted the FULL charge of the installation, although it was never completed, but we were just relieved to get most of our money returned. We now need to contract a second company to supply and fit the battery, and complete the installation at a much increased cost compared to the original R67545 quote.
