DMC wants you to break the law!!!

DMC has been calling and emailing me to get the info of a person that I supposedly know? They cannot confirm to who the person really is by providing details I only get a name and surname. The surname happens to be the same as mine however being a cultural name I know many people with the same name. I was told it is irrelevant I should supply all the info of all the persons with said name. I was contravening the law (could not site the law). I was then threatened that if I did not share said details I would be liable for the debt. When asked how they got my details I was told it is private and privileged information which they cannot share. Subsequently the emails all contain the original debtors first name and surname no second name no identity number no address. However I am expected “obligated” to share details of my entire contact register in contravention of POPI Act. I was told POPI Act does not apply because ABSA has given my details and therefore I am responsible. Subsequently to the initial conversations I have now been told the debt has been transferred to my name? These are amazing debt collectors that ABSA have appointed.
