DMC claim of undue debt & delay in clearing name from TransUnion (***4)
On 1 February 2019, I sent a paid-up letter to DMC in respect of a standard bank loan which I settled in December 2015.
In the same e-mail, I requested DMC to remove this account under my name at TransUnion (and any other Credit Bureau).
On 27 February 2019, I received an SMS from DMC informing me that Standard Bank has confirmed that my account is fully settled.
On the same day, by way of email, I requested DMC to reduce the contents of the SMS to writing and further proceed to clear my name at Credit Bureau. I followed this up with a phonecall to DMC call centre where I was told that this process will take no more than five days.
On 5 March 2019, after requesting an update, I was told that this process will take between 21-30 days to resolve.
DMC's undue claim against me has led to: (a) My name being wrongfully listed at TransUnion. My current TransUnion credit report show that I am five months in arrears with my account. Naturally, this has a negative impact on my credit record. (b) I have wasted hours (and counting) in an attempt to clear my name
Accordingly, I find it unacceptable that I must wait another 31 days to get my name cleared from TransUnion were clearly I was not culpable of any wrong doing.
I wonder if there's any legal recourse for my experience.
