Collecting Prescribed debt

I received sms's from DMC for a Truwoths account. On the first sms I contacted the office and explained that there is something wrong as I have a current Truwoths account for more than 7 years, that's up to date and credit of R15 000.00. After the 2nd sms I consulted with an attorney as I don't like outstanding debt and specially not if I don't even know about it. I was advice to contact them if it happens again. Today I received the 3rd sms - My attorney contacted Delano who was quite rude and forceful. My attorney requested the date the debt was initialized, last date paid and so on, and concluded that this debt has prescribed. So not only am I hassled for debt that I don't agree is mine, i'm harassed for prescribed debt. It now came to light that I have been listed with ITC as trace alert. To fight them in court is costly but I would rather spend money on that than agree to pay debt that's not mine.
