Avoid DLG Global t/a Roofmax like the plague
Where to begin! More than a month ago, my mother requested quotations to have a roof replaced At a property 500 kms away. She received quotations and we proceeded to select the most suitable one based on the quotation, the fact the company assured us they were registered, and that they appeared professional and reliable. We dealt with the owner and received such conscientious service.
Until they got 70 per cent of the quoted cost. We are now in week 6 of a project that we were told would take a few days. The owner who headed the project has caused all the delays - he forged a relationship with the tenant and entered into business dealings with the tenant without our knowledge. He claimed material was unavailable and that bad weather conditions caused delays.
We only learned of the true delays after his relationship with the tenant soured. More lies and deception followed. No work was done. No updates provided despite repeated requests. We documented all interactions and insisted on written updates - none were given without us having to chase after them. The owner became defensive, tried to gaslight and tone police us. We persisted.
Everything came to a head last week - he eventually came up with “proposal”: they would finish the job, after they have attended to other (more important?) clients, and my mother would not need to pay the remaining 30% on completion. We rejected it, because we felt it was a ploy to get out of completing the job.
Status: the owner has disappeared, we do not know who is heading the project, we have requested a host of information that should be readily available and have received nothing, we requested a meeting with the project management team on site (yes we have to re-arrange our commitments to travel to George) and have received no response, we have requested confirmation of handover date and receipt of compliance certificates and received no response. The accountant who started working for the firm has been shoved into the hot seat to handle us. It’s a hot mess that feels like a ****.
On top of all this, we have the additional admin of having to take this further.
Long story short - avoid DLG Global t/a Roofmax based in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape like the plague. We have sought the CIDB’s intervention. Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel. Watch this space (but don’t hold your breath).
