Stay Away from DIY Electronics
Im writing this post, to warn others to stay away from DIY Electronics Ever since I bought from this company i had issues, faulty filament or extruder gears etc, the latest incident occurred on 30/06/19
I purchased a 3D printer from their website with delivery being within 2 days (I reside in JHB, company is based in DBN) When the printer was received, I noticed the bearings where damaged and the plug they sent with the printer was not a SA plug. I could not switch the unit on to test anything.
I contacted the company to inform them of the fault on the printer and was advised after the company does their assessment I would be offered a replacement unit or my money back.
I was happy with the above, arranged for the item to be returned to DIY Electronics. Thats when all the fun begins. Firstly you not able to get hold of anyone via the contact number on their website, all communication must be done via email. thats it you cant chat to anyone, receptionist wont even tolerate your request.
That should have rung some bells with me, but i proceeded to communicate via email. I was told a replacement unit would be made available, however when i queried a few days later i was told the "engineers" are busy repairing the printer and sending the printer back to me, i was also told the printer would be repaired at NO COST to me, which was meant to make me feel good.
But the printer was faulty out the box, the audacity to insinuate that i wont have to pay for repairs that no fault of my own, i knew this was not going to be easy to get my money back
Should have raised some flags, dealing with different people at the company - no concise information was provided person A says one thing and person B says something else, i was not even offered a courtesy call or any call for that matter to discuss the issue, only emails allowed,
it's been 48 hours and all emails and correspondence goes unanswered. Sent multiple emails requesting feedback, no response received
I week later i dont have the printer i paid for. Instead they felt it perfectly fine to keep my money and printer with no way of contact to the company as my emails are being ignored.
Was i just ******? No response to emails, no phone calls to advise on the issue.
Stay away, there are many other 3D printing companies in South Africa, as a consumer you are spoilt for choice. Dont settle for less. you have been warned
Company refuses, and insists on sending me a repaired printer!
