Worst Company Ever - Vitality Points
Well done Discovery for being the worst company in South Africa, that takes some doing. The rule changes are going to cause me to become less fit, I bet the company must be so proud. I purchased a Fitbug due to getting 300 points for 12500+ steps. While the device is not removed (that's another complaint), I can now only get a maximum of 100 points a day. Add to this the reduction in gym points from 150 per day, down to 100, and it makes my goal impossible. Based on gym and/or walking every day, I will only get a max of 700 points per week. My current target is 900. I absolutely refuse to purchase another device, because who knows when you will suddenly rip that one off the device list. No, Discovery can take Vitality and shove it. I will also be cancelling my platinum credit card and insurance. Once that is done I will investigate another medical aid, one that doesn't continuously change the goal posts. One that cares more about their customers than turning a profit. Discovery has alienated a large part of their customer base, while reducing benefits and raising prices year on year. I for one have had enough and this is the last straw. I will be voting with my wallet. Bye bye.
Thank you for your post.
At Vitality, we aim to make people healthier. It is internationally recognised that 10 000 steps is the daily number that adults should be aiming for in order to make health gains.
The aim of Vitality and Vitality Active Rewards is to encourage and motivate our members to exercise more often, more days of the week.
By making your daily target 10 000 for 100 points, we hope to encourage more members to reach this target as well as encourage you to do this on a regular basis which is consistent with global exercise standards.
In addition, we have recognised that step counters have a reputation of being the most easily gamed fitness devices and as such, we reduced the number of points that could be earned in one day.
As members who regularly earn their points and reach their goals through walking become more engaged with the programme, they should increase their exercise intensity and then goals will be adjusted to encourage them accordingly. This is in line with our overall goal of motivating you to become healthier than you were yesterday.
Regards
