<p>I app**** for Vitality Acctive Rewards and received my Apple Watch in February 2016.</p> <p> </p> <p>As you may well know, Discovery has this Vitality Active Rewards programme where it encourages people to exercise and therefore living a healthier life style.</p> <p> </p> <p>You can apply for an Apple Watch, pay a once off activation fee and from there onwards your monthly exercise achievement will determine your premium.</p> <p>Weekly points goals are being set for each individual and if you achieve all 4 (weekly) goals in a month, your apple watch premium is 0 for that month. However, if you do not meet your goals, you are liable for a penalty. </p> <p>So all you have to do is exercise and you have a apple watch for free...awesome right?</p> <p> </p> <p>Well it was awesome until recently when I got sick. In the beginning of the week I tried to exercise, just to get my 10 000 steps in a day (100pts, weekly goal 600 pts). I just just made my weekly goal. Then I rested for a few days hoping this cold will blow over and when it came closer to the end of my next goal, I tried to do my 10 000 steps again. That night I couldn't sleep, had to go to the doctor the next day and was booked off due to Brongitis...gone is my weekly goal.</p> <p> </p> <p>I submitted a medical review form and my doctor's note to Discovery Vitality, only to find an email the next day stating they only review cases where you have been sick for a minimum of 4 weeks. Four weeks?! Yes</p> <p> </p> <p>I rep**** saying that I was not happy with the situation but to no avail. I was informed that a penalty will be deducted from my credit card. </p> <p> </p> <p>A penalty?</p> <p> </p> <p>For not achieving my goal cause I was sick?</p> <p> </p> <p>A Medical Scheme Rewards Programme charging a penalty to their customer because she was not able to exercise due to ill health?</p> <p> </p> <p>Is this really promoting a healthier lifestyle? Or is it merely a money making scheme?</p> <p> </p> <p>Shame on you</p> <p> </p>
