Vitality .... maybe Passive
I went to Spain to do the "Camino de Santiago". This is a 800 km walk that I did in 32 days. Walking between 25 and 30 km per day, 30 to 40 000 steps per day. I have a certificate for completing this pilgrimage. With Vitality I need to reach a goal of 900 points for a 7 day period to be allocated rewards. By walking steps you can only reach op to 100 points per day, whether it be 10 000 or 50 000. 300 per day if you do a 5 km run. So I could only reach 700 points per week. You start walking between 6 and 7 in the morning and reach the next destination about the same time in the afternoon. Carrying a backpack it takes all of you and you are exhausted by that time of evening with blister and all. There are things like a shoe booster and watch booster that Vitality pay you back the percentage of goals you reach for each month for the amount you spend on the shoes. If you reach your goals per month they pay 75% over 12 months back. But if you do not reach your coals the you get back zero for that month. I contacted them before I left for Spain to ask them how they can help me . I was suggesting giving me an overall point for doing this pilgrimage or maybe lowering my weekly coal to 700 points per week. I needed to reach my coals in order to get the full payback possible for buying shoes. I made a few phone calls and mailed them. In the end they suggested that I do a 5km after the 35km to reach my goals. How is this possible ?. So I did not reach my goals for this period and received no rewards and no payback So my question .. Does Vitality really want to help in keeping fit and active in the end saving on medical cost. I think not. 800 km versus sitting on my couch having a beer. It makes no difference to them and they are not even trying to help. So I guess I 'll have the beer then.
