Vitality is a waste of money
My experience of Discovery Health and Discovery Vitality has really sucked and we just joined. The Vitality benefits really don't outweigh the amount you pay. Firstly, the app is a confusing nightmare, nothing makes sense and I feel like I am trying to solve a puzzle when I try and understand how everything works. I get a few miles from a Gameboard and only one of us can get points through Checkers / Dischem using one card only, which makes no sense when you have your own cards and but are both on the same medical aid. Vitality started from when we signed up for Discovery, meaning that time limits on certain offers started from then. I was given certain time frames to get a health check to earn miles, or to contribute to my personal health fund. However, our Discovery medical aid fund is in a 3 month waiting period for reasons unknown to me. So basically I cannot get a free Health Check done to earn these Miles and benefits, I would have to pay out of pocket R300+ which defeats the entire purpose of getting Miles for a health check. I am then just paying money to get Miles, after already paying for Vitality on top of our Medical Aid. How can you have benefit time limits but leave your customers unable to do a free health check to get them, its a waste of time and money. They also say you can fill in some other forms about your health to earn miles, but these require a health check anyway. You can contribute to your personal health fund by getting a health check but alas, I must do it by 11 May and pay for it myself because I in a waiting period for who knows what reason.
